Open for Business

Lines on the Road merchandise is now available!

We've paired up with Zazzle to create a web-based store for it's variety of items, design features, and so we could avoid the pesky business of maintaining stock in a duffel bag while we travel. Here's the link, which is also on the left side bar of the blog.

Jose and I decided to use the designs in just one or two specific items, but we'd like to also have several templates available for shoppers to create their own items with our images. We're not entirely sure the template idea will be feasible given the variety of goods that have very specific sizing requirements, but we're still looking into it.

We want feedback from our followers!  No need to make tee shirts if everyone wants iPad covers and travel mugs, right?  What custom art merchandise would you like to see?

Shameless Pleading . . . GO!

Jose and I have received approval to officially and legally fund-raise for the first annual Lines on the Road trip!  Please note the shiny new banner in the right sidebar of our blog just there (or the FundRazr button on FB), and the hopeful look in our eyes as we shamelessly plead for donations.

I know expecting to raise a few thousand dollars over the course of the next month seems crazy or ill-timed given how soon we'll be traveling, but trust me, we've taken our medication.  We knew we were a little late to the party with our idea to really make a dent in expenses with donations or sales, and grants were out of the question since we'd already missed most of the deadlines.  But when one considers we only need 500 people to donate $10 each, it seems feasible, right?

That's less than the cost of a movie ticket!

If you gave up a night out at the cinema and gave us $10, you'd get:

  • the sweet satisfaction of being a patron of the arts
  • your name or organization's logo featured on our blog page (optional)
  • over 30 days of entertainment (vs. only 2 hours with a movie!)
  • first-hand notice of photos and original art available for sale from the road
  • an insider's look into the creation of original art, from inspiration to completion
  • blushing commentary while Jose follows his dream of driving naked through the desert
  • advance notice of new merchandise featuring illustrations inspired by and created during our journey
  • a heartfelt "Thank you!" from us when all our work is featured in a final show

And with the $2 you saved by not buying that theatre ticket, you can still rent a movie from Red Box.  It's a win-win.

Donate $10 today, help us out and still watch a great movie.  Or, donate to our trip and not watch the movie.  But either way be sure to donate to our trip!

Many thanks in advance, -EA and Jose

LOTR is on Facebook!

Hello!

Our Facebook fan page is up and running!  If you haven't checked it out yet, link to it via the left sidebar.   We've got a few questions out there for public input and we want to hear from you!

Obviously we're not traveling yet, but we are working on a few projects to get the online shop going.  Since Jose and I are based in Winchester, VA, I'm taking a stab at making a few fun illustrations of our iconic places to put on things like t-shirts, etc.  You can follow my progress with these on Facebook as well as provide suggestions for places or structures around Winchester you'd like to see illustrated if you're familiar with the area.   Stay tuned!  -EAJ
